Wakao does not use traditional third-party tracking cookies. Instead, we lean on local browser storage that stays on your device, so essentials like secure sessions, chat history, and map preferences load instantly whenever you return.

Technologies we rely on

Local Storage

Holds your auth state, theme settings, and discovery preferences so you can hop back into Wakao without reconfiguring everything.

Session Storage

Used for short-lived security values (for example, App Check tokens) that reset whenever you close the browser tab.

IndexedDB

Caches recent chats, crewroom media, and activity assets for reliable offline support and faster reloads.

What stays on your device

  • Authentication status: Keeps you signed in securely until you choose to log out.
  • Profile & preferences: Stores display name, modules you pin, and notification choices.
  • Activity cache: Saves recently viewed and hosted experiences for quick access.
  • Messages & media: Retains recent chat threads and attachments for offline viewing.
  • Device telemetry: Lightweight diagnostics that help us detect crashes (never sold or shared).

Third-party essentials

Certain integrations may set their own cookies or storage keys that remain under the provider’s control:

  • Google Identity & App Check: Keeps sign-in sessions and reCAPTCHA Enterprise signals secure.
  • Firebase Authentication & Analytics: Maintains session continuity and anonymized performance metrics.
  • Maps & location providers: Powers live map tiles, routing, and venue previews within activities.
Disabling these cookies or storage values in your browser can limit sign-in, security, or location functionality inside Wakao.

How to take control

You’re always in charge. Every major browser lets you inspect or clear Wakao’s storage in a few taps:
